City of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige - Italy)
Bolzano is a wholly mountain town of 106.951 inhabitants, located 262 meters above sea level in the homonymous province, its territory covers an area of 52,30 sq km.
The souls of Bolzano come together, side by side, overlapping everywhere and give the city a unique charm: here the north meets the south, the features Italian mingle with those in Germany, Central Europe meets the Mediterranean.
Bolzano is lively, definitely about its prosperity and favorable geographical position that contribute to it elected annually among the most liveable cities in Italy.
But it certainly is enjoyable thanks to its well-kept historic center, rivers and vineyards that lap and through the neighborhoods, the miles of trails.
Bolzano is a city that transmits culture with the languages spoken, the prestigious museums, the castles in the city and just outside the ancient atmosphere of the Arcades, the highly respected events program.
The fascination of Bolzano is hard to resist: the innate hospitality of the many cafes and taverns, the sparkle of traditional and modern windows invite every season to always discover something new.
Bolzano (pronounced / bol'tsano /, Bozen in German, Balsan or Bulsan Ladin, Pouzen or Poazen in South Tyrolean dialect) is a common Italian capital of the autonomous province in Trentino-Alto Adige.
The population of the city of Bolzano, according to the census of 2011, is for 74% of the Italian language, for 25,5% of the German language and the 0,68% of Ladin.
Bolzano is situated at an altitude of 264 m in the eastern part of the basin originated by the conjunction of dell'Isarco valleys, Sarn and Adige.
The basin is bounded to the west by the Mendel chain, north-west of the Plateau of Salto (Salten, 1.500 m), north-east by a smaller peak of Renon (Ritten) called Monte Tondo (Hörtenberg), and south- east from Monte Pozza (1.619 m) on whose northern slope is the hill resort, whose name is often used loosely to refer to the entire mountain.
A small rocky cliff of the latter, called Virgolo, rises vertically close to the city.
The city is connected to the three mountains closest to the cable cars that pass each about a thousand meters in altitude: the cable car that goes up the hill Monte Pozza until Bauernkohlern (Herrenkohlern), with the arrival of Renon Soprabolzano and San Genesio reaching the plateau of the same name country jumping.
From the city, looking towards the east along the valley of the Inn, you see the nearby and charming Rosengarten (Rosengarten, 3.004 m), which is part of the Dolomites, with features Vajolet Towers.
Bolzano is crossed by the stream that flows into Talvera city in the Inn River, which in turn flows nell'Adige few kilometers south of the city itself.
The historic core of the city lies in the triangle bordered to the west by the river Talvera, south of the Inn River and north-east of the Monte Tondo.
