Type of Italian airports

The system of Italian airports counts - to 1 September 2010 - 113 from a total of airports (11 102 only open to military and civilian traffic) thus characterized:

  • AIRPORTS OPEN TO TRAFFIC CIVIL COMMERCIAL
    State-owned airports in concession management company, in which you make the air transport of passengers for a fee.
    This traffic includes scheduled air transport, charter and air taxi.
  • AIRPORTS OPEN TO TRAFFIC CIVIL COMMERCIAL NON-OPERATING
    Airports open to civilian traffic for several reasons of operational, organizational or structural, are not yet fully operational.
  • AIRPORTS IN THE PROCESS OF PLANNING AND / OR CONSTRUCTION
    airports scheduled to be carried out in areas considered strategic for the development of the Italian air traffic.
  • PRIVATE AIRPORTS OPEN TO TRAFFIC
    Airports where there is a type of private air traffic, such as that operated by flying clubs, flight schools, from small private aircraft and airline services.
  • PRIVATE COMMERCIAL AIRPORTS OPEN TO TRAFFIC
    Airports are privately owned, which makes the air transport of passengers for a fee.

  • AIRPORTS MILITARY DOUBLE USE military-CIVIL
    Airports of military property no longer functional for military purposes relating to civil aviation and transferred to the civil aviation domain.
  • MILITARY AND MILITARY AIRPORTS A MIXED USE
    Military airports (under Decree of January 2008 - its address Act to military airports dual military-civilian use) are distinguished:
