City of Verona (Veneto - Italy)

Verona is a town of 257.353 inhabitants, located 59 meters above sea level in the homonymous province, its territory covers an area of ​​206,70 sq km.

Verona is an Italian town capital of the province in the Veneto region.
It is the twelfth Italian city by population and the second largest municipality is not the capital of the most populous region of Italy.
The city of Verona is a major tourist destination, visited annually by more than three million people by virtue of its artistic and architectural treasures, for the numerous international events held there, but even more so for having been established as a place of tragedy "Romeo and Juliet", seen around the world as a symbol of love.
The city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its urban structure and its architecture: Verona is a clear example of a city that has developed progressively and uninterruptedly over two thousand years, incorporating artistic elements of the highest quality of different periods that have taken place; also an exceptional way the concept of a fortified city in the most crucial stage of European history.
The city lies along the banks of the Adige River, at the point where this comes in the Po Valley and forms a characteristic double meander, about thirty kilometers east of Lake Garda.
It is located in 59 meters above sea level, at the foot of the mountains south of Appendix Lessinian: the hill San Pietro.
Verona is one of the major art cities of Italy for its artistic and archaeological treasures.
The city has a complex, but two walls accentuate the division between Roman and modern (until the second half of the nineteenth century): on one side the Roman walls that surround the heart of the city between Porta Borsari, the Lions and the door walls of Gallienus, the other, the so-called inner ring road with forts Renaissance (completed under the Austrians).
In ancient Verona it is sensitive the work of restoration of Can Grande della Scala: the strong visual impact given by the red color of the bricks of the beautiful Gothic buildings is tempered by wise use of the ancient Roman white marble; opera, this fruit of Scala political ideal return to the imperial splendor.
Hence the new marble urbs, resplendent in white pavement of Piazza delle Erbe, the center of which stands the bright fountain of Madonna Verona, composed of parts from the ancient Roman baths.
Being Verona became a symbol of the city because there is the setting for the tragedy "Romeo and Juliet", he tried to reconstruct what might be the two houses of the lovers' homes and the alleged "Juliet's House" is the result of a pilgrimage uninterrupted by tourists, so as to make the greatest place of tourist attraction of Verona.
