City of Muravera (Province of Sud Sardegna - Italy)
Muravera is a totally coastal mountain town of 5.266 inhabitants, located 11 meters above sea level in the Province of South Sardinia, its territory covers an area of 94,70 sq km.
The most important center of Sarrabus stands at the mouth of the Flumendosa, in the middle of a campaign for growing citrus.
On the area in ancient times stood the Phoenician city of Sarcapos.
The country is almost attached to Villaputzu and San Vito, ideal starting point for excursions along the coast and the inland valleys.
To the north, the stretch of coast to Porto Corallo, is a long sandy beach interrupted by rocky outcrops.
Torre Salinas dominated by a granite outcrop at the sandy shore and the pond Colostrai.
Near the marina another Spanish tower in 1812 saw one of the few victories of Sardis on the Barbary pirates.
A hike along the eastern road towards Arbatax leads to the ruins of Quirra Castle and the Romanesque church of St. Nicholas, the only one in Sardinia built in brick.
Instead heading towards Cagliari, follow the course of the Rio Cannas where the red rocks outcrop between arbutus, heather, myrtle and juniper.
In summer you can bathe in the crystal clear pools of water in the shade of the oleanders in bloom and weeping willows.
Also interesting is the excursion along the Flumendosa valley, over San Vito.
Castiadas is a fraction of Rei, with a few houses around the nineteenth-century prisons, in the middle of a countryside with vineyards and citrus.
Beautiful stretch of coast around Cap-Ferrat, with basaltic rocks that open bays white beach, shaded by pine trees.
Continuing south meets Costa Rei, a center of second homes and vacation villages.
The bay here is closed south from Cala Sinzias: the seabed formed by rocky slabs gives the water a shimmering transparency.
