City of Urbino (Province of Pesaro Urbino - Italy)
Urbino is a wholly mountain town of 14.844 inhabitants, located 485 meters above sea level in the Province of Pesaro Urbino, its territory covers an area of 226,50 sq km.
Urbino is a town of 15.341 inhabitants (2006) in the Marche region, the capital (together with Pesaro) of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino.
From its 1998, its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Home to one of the most important universities of Europe, has a historic center surrounded by high walls.
Very well known and visited is the Ducal Palace, one of the most interesting architectural and artistic examples of the entire Italian Renaissance and is home to the National Gallery of the Marche, characteristic of "torrents" that delimit the back.
La Raphael House is located in the homonymous street via 57.
Here you can admire its youthful fresco, as well as the environments and furnishings of the house where the famous painter lived.
The Cathedral, in neoclassical style (architect Giuseppe Valadier) contains some paintings by Federico Barocci.
Of particular interest is the monastery of Santa Chiara which saw the intervention of the famous Sienese architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini.

The Archaeological Museum Lapidary
The faculties of the Science of Education (Magisterium) and above all of Economics (Battiferri Palace) are examples of modern architectural interventions balanced in an ancient urban fabric without creating anachronisms or false historical, while University Colleges, located on the Cappuccini Hill world-class considered masterpieces of the seventies architecture, due to the density of meanings they contain (architect Giancarlo De Carlo).
For Urbino there is also the school where Giovanni Pascoli studied until the age of 12 years.
