City of Amalfi (Province of Salerno - Italy)
Amalfi is a totally coastal mountain town of 5.088 inhabitants, located 6 meters above sea level in the Province of Salerno, its territory covers an area of 5,70 sq km.
The main center and the historical core of the "Coast" is Amalfi.
In the serene sky and the sea, Amalfi, watched from the port, seems held in the palm of one hand.
On top the scenery of the mountains, articulated as a backdrop, dotted with houses; Below, a picturesque web of alleys and stairs, up to the big square where the famous steps from the Duomo dominates majestic.
A unique scene, where historic memory intertwines with unforgettable natural beauty.
Suspended between the Lattari Mountains and the sea, the picturesque alleys of Amalfi today host a large number of tourists, but once they have experienced the splendor of the powerful "Maritime Republic" which had its moment of maximum splendor between the X and the XII century, and he could hold off the Lombards and Saracens.
Rich and populated Amalfi enjoyed lively contact with the East.

This area, crossed by the River Canneto, and the nearby "Valle delle Ferriere", an enchanting natural environment, constitute a "Biogenetic Nature Reserve".
The climb from Amalfi is challenging but fascinating.
They will discover the remains of mills that brought the water to the paper, and a nature that hides secret charms, springs and waterfalls, views of the sea between the lush Mediterranean vegetation.
